His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has a personal interest in all the sciences and has been an enthusiastic advocate for itís place in modern life. He is an adamant believer in the importance of analytical thought and reasoning.

His Holiness initiated a dialogue between himself and scientists from around the world around 25 years ago and is confident that Buddhism and Science can mutually benefit from this exchange. The Mind and Life conferences have been vastly successful and are changing the education of monks and also the opinions of scientist.

Medicine, which is a scientific field, is an important avenue in research today, with the potential of alleviated much suffering and saving lives in its due course.

His Holiness is an avid advocate of the need to preserve the environment and has even once claimed that he believes environmental activists are the new buddhists of their times.

If science proves some belief of Buddhism wrong, then Buddhism will have to change.
